The Veldenz Hiking Trail

The Veldenz Hiking Trail is a certified hiking trail, distinguished as a Leading Quality Trail - Best of Europe, with a length of around 60 km. It starts at Lichtenberg Castle, high above the small village of Thallichtenberg, and ends in the Veldenz town of Lauterecken.

A hike full of highlights: It starts with a bang: Lichtenberg Castle, ancestral seat of the Counts of Veldenz, high above the small village of Thallichtenberg is the starting point of the hiking trail that leads to Veldenz Castle in Lauterecken. The Prädikatwanderweg is characterised by a natural silence that is rarely experienced.

Over 62.2 km, the Veldenz Hiking Trail - which has been awarded Leading Quality Trail status - leads through the Palatinate Mountains. Hikers should take at least three days to complete the trail.

Partial results of the footpath across narrow paths and rocks. Good footwear is required. For prams areas in the nature reserves are not suitable!
